Birmingham Mela will take place on 13 – 14 July 2024 at Victoria Park, Smethwick.
Gates open at 12noon and the event finishes at 7pm on both days.
Please note this event is no re-admission. Please ensure you have everything you need before entering.
Victoria Park is located on Smethwick High Street.

It will cost you £3 each day to enter the event. You can purchase tickets online or pay at the gate.
We encourage you to buy tickets online to queues.

There will be road closures in place around the event so pick ups and drop offs will not be possible near the park. Please use public transport where possible.
By foot: Entrance to the park is via the High Street gate next to Smethwick Council house a short walk away from Galton Valley Canal Heritage Area.
By bus: The following bus routes pass adjacent to the park: 80, 87, 89, 53, 55. Please visit TfWM Journey Planner (TfWM Journey Planner
By train: Nearest station is Smethwick Rolfe Street, a 10 minute walk and Smethwick Galton Bridge which offers additional mainline connections, is a 23 minute walk. Please note RMT has industrial action on Saturday 22nd July. This likely to result in little or no services. Please visit National Rail Enquiries website (www.nationalrail.co.uk) for information.
By Metro: Closest tram stop is Handsworth Booth Street then walk 27 minutes or take bus number 80 towards West Bromwich. Services will be busier than normal due to the train strike so please use Metro Journey Planner (Metro Journey Planner
By Car: There is limited car parking at Victoria Park. It will cost you £10 per day to park your car here.
No animals are allowed on site with the only exception of registered assistance dogs.

All mela-goers should respect the surrounding area, as well as the use of all the facilities on site.
Bags: Large bags are not allowed to be taken into the Mela. There are no cloakroom or storage facilities. Small bags are allowed into the Mela with the dimensions W21cm x H30cm x D8cm (A4 Size). Bags will be searched on entry to the event, to avoid lengthy queues we strongly advise that you do not bring a bag. We appreciate your cooperation and patience when entering the Mela.
You will also be searched at the entrance to the event which may include a full body pat down and/or use of hand-held metal detectors. Any item(s), which may reasonably be considered for use as a weapon, or which may cause danger or disruption to any other persons at the event, will be confiscated.
Persons suspected of carrying items that may be used in an offensive or dangerous manner, or carrying out illegal activities within the event site or other parts of the site may be searched.
Items not allowed: You are no longer permitted to bring soft drinks or food and the following;
- Aerosols over 250ml
- Air horns
- Alcohol
- Animals (except assistance dogs)
- Audio visual recording or transmitting equipment (Professional)
- BBQs or any cooking apparatus
- Balloons
- Bicycles, scooters, roller skates
- Blow torches
- Cans
- Chairs, stools, floor seating, shooting sticks
- Chinese lanterns
- Cooking apparatus
- Cool bags / boxes (large)
- Cigarettes (more than for personal use)
- Cutlery
- Drinks (empty plastic bottles 500ml or less permitted)
- Drones
- Fireworks / pyrotechnics
- Flags with poles
- Flares / distress flares / smoke flares
- Food (small amounts for personal consumption permitted)
- Gazebos and parasols
- Gas cylinders/canisters
- Glass (including glass makeup and perfume bottles)
- Liquids, gels or lotions (over 100ml)
- Illegal substances (drugs)

- Legal highs (includes Nitrus Oxide and associated equipment including balloons)

Visible security presence on the perimeter and entrances from the event on site build, and onwards, the new security coordinators will oversee and manage all relevant companies and any operational activity.
The Mela has a pre-agreed eviction policy with the police in place.
Please note everyone attending the event will be required to pass through airport-style metal detectors and undergo body and bag searches as a condition of entry. We reserve the right to refuse admittance to any person who refuses to be searched by a steward or other person acting on their behalf. Please be advised that you may have to queue upon entry so we ask that you are patient – these plans are in place to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable event.
